Larry E. James, 77, of Huntsville, passed away unexpectedly Friday, Nov. 15, 2019, at Mary Rutan Hospital Emergency Department, Bellefontaine.
Larry was born on May 12, 1942 in Kenton, a son of the late Paul E. and Mary L. Frater James. Larry was also preceded in death by a daughter, Kelly Ann James and a brother, Dennis James.
Jan. 16, 1965, he married Jean Purcell and she survives, along with their daughter, Stacey J. (DJ) Gordon of Lakeview; three grandchildren, Andrea (Samantha) Martin, Katherine Martin, and Christian Gordon; many nieces, nephews, extended and chosen family.
Larry was a 1960 graduate of Brunswick High School. He attended Columbus Technical Institute studying Jet Engine Mechanics. Larry was a United States Air Force veteran, serving during Vietnam. He worked as a jet mechanic, automotive mechanic and landscaper during his career. He also owned James Homecraft Studio for antique restoration in Columbus. Larry was a member of Indian Lake Community Church and Logan County Friendly Senior Center Wood Carving Club. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and reading, especially history. Larry had an affinity for nature, raising African Violets and tropical fish. He loved to spend time with his family and friends.
Pastor Jim Ellington begins memorial services at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2019, at Indian Lake Community Church with visitation one hour prior to services. Military honors will be performed by the Logan County Veterans Honor Guard.
Memorial contribution in Larry’s name may be given to Indian Lake Community Church Youth Programs, PO Box 457, Russells Point, 43348.
