The Logan County Unified Drug Task Force conducted a narcotic enforcement operation and a traffic stop Thursday afternoon that resulted in the arrest of the driver for trafficking in drugs.
During the traffic stop at State Route 117 at Township Road 100 about 3 p.m., the driver, Joseph K. Hansen, of Mt. Vernon, was found to have a suspended driver’s license
The driver admitted to having loose marijuana on the floorboard and provided consent for the vehicle to be searched.
Detectives located a pillow case containing $25,000 cash and three Mason jars, each sealed in vacuum sealed packaging on the floor behind the driver’s seat.
The three Mason jars were found to contain approximately 5 pounds of a brownish liquid, believed to be hashish oil. The substance was tested and found to contain THC greater than 0.3 percent. The hashish oil has an estimated street value of more than $30,000.
The hashish oil and the money were seized as evidence and Hansen was placed under arrest.
