Dollar General store remains on track
A parcel of land that may well prove to be the future site of a Dollar General store was formally annexed into the village of West Liberty following council’s adoption Monday of an ordinance on third-and-final reading.
The council has agreed to annex from Liberty Township into the village about 1.64 acres of land along Township Road 189, just north of where Township Road 14 intersects near the Kroger Northern Floral Center.
William and Gladys Hostetler own that land, and have agreed to sell it for the purpose of building a Dollar General store at that location.
In August, council passed a resolution that approved use of village water and sewer utilities at that location in the event it is annexed. Logan County Commissioners signed off on the annexation during an Aug. 27 hearing.
Before the property may be developed for commercial use, it would first have to be rezoned. Documents to have the property rezoned are being prepared, legal counsel for the Hostetlers said Monday.
