Ashly L. Carter, 31, of 440 1/2 Main St., was charged Thursday with theft and tampering with evidence.
Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department confronted her outside Rite Aid, 230 S. Main St., as they responded to a 12:40 p.m. theft report from the store.
She had several items in her purse which were taken from the business.
After lodging her in the Logan County Jail, an officer found more merchandise on the rear floor board of the cruiser. An onboard camera recorded the suspect removing the items from her clothing and using her feet to conceal the goods against a cage under her seat.
• Travis G. Ramos, 19, of 221 Powell Ave., was lodged in jail on a probation violation.
Pills reported stolen
Steve Burton, 1000 Garfield Ave., Lot 4, reported Tuesday a named female suspect took 52 prescription pain relievers from his residence.
