Lakeview Village Council members learned during the regular meeting Tuesday that it would cost $1,000 an acre to purchase the former railroad property owned by DP&L.
Officials said owning the 2.3-acre property along the old railroad bed would benefit the village giving unfettered access to village water lines for repairs.
Village Administrator Pat Parish reported joining forces with the Village of Russells Point to apply for a grant to purchase a new mosquito fogger that would be shared by the villages. He also received word that CDC of Ohio Community Development Consultants will bid out the two drainage projects for the village in the next two weeks; and said it is likely, under consultant recommendation, the village will not be participating in the AMP Ohio solar project, but more information is forthcoming.
Mr. Parish said he has been working with Quality Paving on an estimate to pave part of the lot at the electric storage building. Because of funds availability, Mr. Parish is getting a single quote on just part of the lot adjacent to the new fire department and will present that estimate at the next meeting at 7:30 p.m. June 7, representing a change in the regular meeting date.
