Indian Lake’s boys basketball team utilized its long-range shooting and capitalized on a big second quarter to put away host West Liberty-Salem 68-57 on Saturday during a local non-league game.
The Lakers move their record to 4-6 on the season as the Tigers fall to 5-3.
WL-Salem edged Indian Lake in the opening quarter 20-18, but the Lakers came storming back to take the second quarter with a 23-9 scoring surge. That put the visitors in front 41-29 at halftime.
The third quarter saw Indian Lake outscore WL-Salem 19-16, which stretched the lead to a 60-45 score. The Tigers had a 12-8 run in the fourth quarter, but couldn’t get any closer.
The Laker offense was sparked by Luke Jackson, who buried six three-pointers on his way to a game-high 20 points. Camdon Tuttle recorded 15 points, while Caleb Wurster and Zander Barnes each added 10 points.
For the Tigers, Logan Saylor led the team with 19 points, Nick Burden tallied 17 points, Owen Johnson had 11 points and Tanner LeVan added eight points.
In junior varsity action, WL-Salem defeated Indian Lake 53-37. Matt Jones led the Tigers with 20 points and Miles Hostetler had 12 points. For the Lakers, Chase Baldwin and Logan Murphy each had 13 points.
Both teams are back on the court Tuesday. Indian Lake travels to Shawnee, while WL-Salem travels to Southeastern.
