Indian Lake’s girls soccer team grabbed some early momentum to help put away visiting Tri-County North 5-0 Tuesday in a Division III sectional tournament opener.
The 17th-seeded Lakers (7-10) now travel to second-seeded Waynesville (15-0) on Saturday at 7 p.m. The Spartans are ranked second in the Division III state poll. The 19th-seeded Panthers end the year at 3-11-1.
Kaitlyn Shaner led Indian Lake’s offense on Tuesday with two goals, Raelyn Parsell and Ava Shroyer each had one goal and one assist, Ashlyn Shaner had one goal, while Grace Pequignot had one assist.
Defensively for the Lakers, Savannah Hill recorded her fourth shutout of the season.
Chiefs can’t stop Red Devils
Bellefontaine’s girls soccer team was outmatched against state-ranked Tippecanoe on Tuesday as the Red Devils grabbed an 8-0 win in a Division II sectional tournament opener.
The Chieftains, who were seeded ninth, finish the season with a 4-10-2 record.
The top-seeded Red Devils, who are ranked eighth in the state, are now 14-0-2 and play 12th-seeded Greenville (2-14) on Saturday.
Carroll races past Ben Logan
Benjamin Logan’s girls soccer team could not slow down a talented Carroll squad on the road Tuesday as the Patriots rolled to a 9-0 win in Division II tournament action.
The 10th-seeded Raiders finish the season with a 3-11-3 record. The second-seeded Patriots (10-2-5) host 11th-seeded Brookville (2-12-1) on Saturday.
