Host Indian Lake overpowered Versailles 12-2 in six innings in a Division III sectional semifinal softball game Wednesday afternoon.
The fourth-seeded Lakers (15-8) advance to play second-seeded Arcanum (22-3) at 5 p.m. Monday in the sectional final at Newton High School.
Indian Lake jumped out with three runs in the bottom of the first inning.
After Versailles scored a run in the second to make it 3-1, the Lakers scored twice in the third for a 5-1 advantage.
The Tigers scored another run in the top of the fourth to get to within three at 5-2, but the Lakers answered with two runs in the bottom of the frame for a 7-2 lead.
Indian Lake tacked on three runs in the fifth and two in the sixth to finish off the Tigers.
Madison Brentlinger pitched a four-hitter to get the win for the Lakers. She struck out five, walked two and allowed one earned run.
Indian Lake’s offense pounded out 13 hits. Katie Roby went 2-4 with two doubles and three RBI to help lead the Indian Lake bats. Haylee Edwards had a triple and three RBI, Brentlinger was 2-3 with two RBI, Hailey Talbot went 2-4 with a double and one RBI and Porscha Davis went 2-2 with a triple and an RBI.

WL-S ousted by Carlisle
West Liberty-Salem’s softball team ran into a strong Carlisle squad Wednesday and came away with a 16-5 six-inning loss in a Division III sectional semifinal.
The Tigers are now 6-14 on the season.
The Tigers finished with eight hits, while Carlisle racked up 17 hits.
Aubrey Williams went 3-3 with a double, home run and two RBI to lead the Tigers. Bailey Poppe added an RBI.
Carisle, the top seed, advances to play 12th-seeded National Trail in the sectional final.
