Despite not having a baseball season last spring, Indian Lake’s Isaac Roby was able to attract attention from college programs.
The senior standout recently signed his letter of intent to play at Miami University Middletown campus.
“The ThunderHawks are all about developing players and helping them improve on their baseball skills to either help them go to the Oxford campus or another school in a higher division,” said Roby.
Roby’s junior season was lost to the coronavirus pandemic, but his sophomore season saw him dominate from the mound. Roby led the Central Buckeye Conference with seven wins. He finished 7-3 for the Lakers with a 1.09 ERA and 27 strikeouts in 67 innings of work.
“This season, for me, is all about proving myself and for the team to get a CBC title,” Roby said.
At the plate as a sophomore, Roby hit .257 with19 hits,11 runs and 14 RBI. He also stole six bases.
Roby plans to study science education in hopes of becoming a chemistry teacher.
The ThunderHawks have had to cancel the past two seasons, including this spring’s campaign, because of the pandemic.
