Indian Lake’s softball team found a late offensive surge to rally past host Northwestern 15-5 on Wednesday in Central Buckeye Conference Mad River division play.
The Lakers improve to 6-3 overall and 1-2 in the CBC, while the Warriors drop to 4-2, 1-2.
Northwestern grabbed a 4-2 lead after the first inning. Indian Lake plated a run in the fourth inning, but the Warriors plated a run in the fifth inning to stay ahead 5-3.
Indian Lake’s bats got going int he final two innings. The Lakers drove in five runs in the sixth inning and poured in seven more runs in the seventh inning to pull away for the win.
The Laker offense piled up 14 hits and were led by Kyleigh Huffer, who went 2-4 with a home run and four RBI. Madison Brentlinger went 2-5 with a home run and an RBI, Lexi Lones went 2-5 with two doubles, Claire Young and Hailey Talbot both hit doubles with two RBI, Allix Cotterman went 2-4 with a double, Katie Roby hit a double with an RBI and Haylee Edwards went 3-4. Lones recorded the win in the pitching circle with 10 strikeouts. Indian Lake travels to Jonathan Alder on Friday.

Raiders blank Hillclimbers
Benjamin Logan’s softball team shutout host Urbana 7-0 on Tuesday in a Central Buckeye Conference Mad Rive division contest.
The Raiders move to 5-2 overall and 2-1 in the CBC Mad River. The Hillclimbers fall to 1-3, 0-3.
Ben Logan started by scoring two runs in the first inning. The Raiders added a run in the third inning and a run in the fourth inning for a 4-0 advantage.
The Raiders added three more runs in the fifth inning to build a 7-0 lead and the Hillclimbers were unable to score the rest of the way.
Lynzee Cronkleton led Ben Logan’s offense going 3-4 with a double, Ryelle Gibson went 3-4, Brinlyn Tipton went 2-2, Jenn Naragon hit a double, while Jillian Plikerd and Georgia Bates each had an RBI.
Kyah Moore earned the win in the pitching circle with four strikeouts and gave up just three hits. Ben Logan travels to Tecumseh on Friday for a CBC crossover game. BEN

Pioneers edge Chieftains
Bellefontaine’s softball team put up a fight on the road Wednesday, but Jonathan Alder was able to hold on for a 2-1 Central Buckeye Conference Kenton Trail victory.
The Chieftains slide to 4-4 overall and 1-2 in the CBC as the Pioneers move to 5-0, 3-0.
Jonathan Alder scored its runs early by finding home plate once in the second inning and again in the third inning for a 2-0 lead.
Bellefontaine was able to squeeze in a run in the top of the seventh frame, but couldn’t get any closer.
Offensively, the Chiefs recorded five hits. Alexza Clifton hit a home run to secure the team’s only run, while Rianna Fullerton went 2-3 and Rylie Fullerton had a hit. Tayteum Vigansky took the loss in the pitching circle and had five strikeouts. Bellefontaine hosts Piqua today in a non-league game.
