Indian Lake’s girls basketball team took over the second half against visiting Northwestern on Wednesday and came away with a 55-39 Central Buckeye Conference victory.
The Lakers move their record to 5-4 on the season and 2-3 in the CBC Mad River division. The Warriors slide to 3-2, 1-1.
Northwestern took the opening quarter 10-7, but Indian Lake was able to outscore the Warriors in the second quarter 19-12. That put the Lakers in front 26-22 at halftime.
The third quarter saw Indian Lake come out ahead 11-8, which increased the lead to a 37-30 score. The Lakers pulled away for good in the fourth quarter with an 18-9 run.
Kaleigh Huffer sparked the Laker offense with 15 points, Hailey Talbot and Allison Kinney both had 12 points, while Kayli Tussing and Stephanie Altstaetter each chipped in seven points.
In junior varsity action, Indian Lake outlasted Northwestern 36-32 in overtime. Meadow McCullough led the Lakers with 11 points, Haylee Edwards had nine points and Ava Shroyer added seven points.
Indian Lake hosts Graham on Saturday for another CBC contest.
