Another strong defensive effort helped West Liberty-Salem’s girls basketball team roll past host Cedarville for a 40-17 Ohio Heritage Conference victory Saturday.
The Tigers improve to 11-1 overall and 9-0 in the league, while the Indians fall to 6-6, 4-6.
WL-Salem held a 9-7 lead after one quarter. The Tigers pulled away in the second quarter with a 16-3 run. That helped them grab a 25-10 halftime advantage.
WL-Salem was three points better (10-7) in the third quarter to build a 35-17 lead.
Selena Weaver sparked the Tigers with 16 points and five rebounds, while Emily Hollar also had 16 points with five assists.
In junior varsity action, Cedarville edged WL-Salem 24-21. Ayva Stewart led the Tigers with seven points.
WL-Salem plays again Thursday at home against Springfield Catholic Central.
