Benjamin Logan and Indian Lake’s girls bowling teams both secured district berths after competing in the Division II sectional tournament Friday at Marian Lanes in Huber Heights. West Liberty-Salem also had two individuals advance with Katie Rollins and Natalie Hacker.
The top 12 teams and the top 12 individuals not on a qualifying team move on to the district tournament Thursday at Beaver-Vu Bowl in Beavercreek.
Greenon won the 22-team sectional title with a top score of 3,745. Mechanicsburg was runner-up with a score of 3,538 and Ben Logan was just 27 pins back for third with a score of 3,511. Indian Lake finished ninth with a qualifying score of 3,057. WL-Salem and Riverside competed, but did not record team scores.
Kaylee Nicholas, last year’s defending Division II individual state champion, led the Raiders with games of 182, 179 and 193 for a 554, which placed her sixth overall out of 127 bowlers. Teammate Addie Buckenroth was 12th overall with games of 212, 171 and 146 for a 529 series and Erica Warne was 16th overall with games of 193, 151 and 179 for a 523 series. Also for the Raiders, Malori Barnes rolled games of 124, 152 and 149 for a 425 series and Ashley Gantt had games of 147 and 133 for a 280 series.
The Lakers were highlighted by Jalan Martin, who was 11th overall, with games of 145, 178 and 209 for a 532 series, Madison Kidder rolled games of 156, 138 and 152 for a 446 series, Kayleigh Zedlitz recorded games of 130, 159 and 146 for a 435 series, Keiko Shields had games of 135, 107 and 116 for a 358 series and Jaelyn Hughes added games of 126, 107 and 97 for a 330 series.
Rollins and Hacker powered the Tigers on Friday with individual district berths. Rollins was ninth overall with games of 181, 155 and 203 for a 539 series and Hacker was 51st overall with games of 123, 129 and 160 for a 412 series.
Blair Boyd also competed for WL-Salem and roll games of 107, 138 and 122 for a 367 series.
Riverside’s Meghan Orr bowled as an individual and finished with games of 150, 185 and 105 for a 340 series.
