It was a memorable day for Indian Lake’s girls bowling team on Thursday as the Lakers finished third out of 25 teams in the Division II sectional tournament at Poelking Marian Lanes to earn a spot in next week’s district tourney.
The top 12 teams and top 12 individuals not on a qualifying team advanced to the district tournament, which is Tuesday at Beaver-Vu Lanes.
Mechanicsburg won the tournament with a total of 3,670. Versailles was second with 3,595 and Indian Lake had 3,590 for its thirdplace finish.
Jalan Martin led the Lakers with games of 212, 154 and 203 for a 569 series. Jaelyn Hughes rolled games of 195, 162 and 191 for a 548 series, Kayleigh Zedlitz had games of 207, 178 and 158 for a 543 series and Madison Kidder contributed a 168 game.
Benjamin Logan, Riverside and West Liberty- Salem also competed on Thursday but did not advance as a team. However, they each advanced an individual bowler.
The Raiders finished 14th as a team with a total of 2,868, WL-Salem was 17th with 1,886 and the Pirates were 19th with 1,815.
Addie Buckenroth led the Raiders by advancing with a 496 series. She had games of 148, 159 and 189.
Avery Green rolled a 161 game for the Raiders and Sarah Folk had a 171 game. Rayce Yelton powered Riverside with a stellar 592 series. She had games of 235, 165 and 192 to finish fourth overall and grab a spot in the district tourney.
West Liberty-Salem’s Alyssa Mueller also earned a district berth by rolled a 443 series. That included a 181 game.
