Bellefontaine’s girls basketball team was able to stay one step ahead of host North Union on Wednesday as the Chiefs pulled out a 43-40 win in Central Buckeye Conference crossover action.
The Chieftains move to 9-7 on the season as the Wildcats slip to 10-7.
Bellefontaine held a 10-6 lead after the opening quarter. North Union was two points better (14-12) in the second quarter to cut the Chiefs’ lead to two (22-20) at halftime.
The Chieftains pushed their lead to three (30-27) after three quarters. Both teams scored 13 points in the final period.
Hannah Rader and Tayteum Vigansky led the Chiefs with 14 points each and Carmen Shumaker dropped in nine points.
In junior varsity action, Bellefontaine dropped North Union 34-16. Katie Pool paced the Chieftains with 14 points.
Bellefontaine hosts Jonathan Alder on Saturday in another CBC contest.
