BHS earns fifth straight KT title, BL claims second consecutive MR title
Bellefontaine and Benjamin Logan’s girls golf teams both repeated as league champions in their respective divisions Wednesday during the Central Buckeye Conference postseason tournament at Reid Park South in Springfield.
Jonathan Alder won the CBC Kenton Trail postseason tournament with a 373, but Bellefontaine beat them in the final point standings 25-24 to win their fifth consecutive league championship. The Chiefs were second at Wednesday’s tournament with a 394.
Ben Logan coasted to its second straight Mad River title with 35 points in the final team standings. Urbana was runner-up with 28 points, Graham was third with 21 points, Indian Lake came in fourth with 14 points, North Union was fifth with seven points and Northwestern was sixth with zero points.
Kayla Watkins led the Chieftains with an 80 and was medalist in the Kenton Trail tournament, Madison Taylor carded a 102, Anastasia Hiatt and Lexi Buffkin both had 106s, Morgan Burden posted a 109 and Kyndal Newkirk added a 112.
Sydney Wesson powered Ben Logan’s performance with a low of 73 and was medalist Wednesday in the Mad River division. She ended the season perfect in points and was medalist in every Mad River division match this fall.
Also aiding the Raiders to a CBC title were Leeah Valentine with an 89, Taylor Lafferty with a 98, Willow Titus with a 110, Olivia Hahn with a 112 and Kensley Lacher with a 122.
For Indian Lake, Regan Ross led the team with an 84, Kayla Cummins carded a 110, Lauren Barhorst shot a 118, Bree Stid had a 121 and Destiny Crumley had a 132.
The CBC all-league girls golf team will be in the Examiner at a later date.
