Bellefontaine and Benjamin Logan waged an impressive battle Thursday afternoon that saw the game go 12 innings.
The visiting Chiefs broke a 3-3 tie with three runs in the top of the 12th inning and they held the Raiders scoreless in the bottom of the 12th to secure a 6-3 victory in a Central Buckeye Conference softball game.
Bellefontaine is now 3-2 overall and 1-1 in the CBC. Ben Logan falls to 3-1, 1-1.
Ben Logan struck first with two runs in the bottom of the first inning.
Bellefontaine scored a run in the second and another in the top of the fifth to tie the game at 2-2.
Ben Logan plated a run in the bottom of the fifth inning to go up 3-2.
Bellefontaine answered with a run in the top of the sixth to knot the score at 3-3.
The game stayed that way until the Chiefs were able to break through for their three-run 12th frame.
Alexza Clifton had a two-run double in the 12th and Carmen Shumaker had an RBI double in the inning for the Chiefs.
Clifton and Shumaker each had two hits on the day. Tayteum Vigansky also had two hits and Aubrey Hudson had an inside-the-park home run.
Vigansky earned the win in the pitching circle with a gritty outing. She piled up 17 strikeouts and allowed only four hits.
Kyah Moore led the Raiders with two hits.
Moore suffered the loss in the pitching circle, but recorded 12 strikeouts.
Both teams are back in action today. The Raiders host Tecumseh and the Chiefs are are home against Urbana.

Riverside edges Lehman
Riverside fought off Lehman Catholic for a 3-1 win in a Three Rivers Conference softball game Thursday afternoon.
The Pirates are now 3-1 overall and 2-0 in the TRC. Lehman falls to 0-5, 0-3.
“Lehman’s pitcher did a great job keeping our offense off balance,” said Riverside coach Andy Phelps. “We have to do a better job of putting the ball in play.”
Riverside led 1-0 after the first inning. Lehman tied the game with a run in the fourth.
The Pirates plated two runs in the sixth inning to grab the lead and they held on in the seventh to get the win.
Alaina Snow was the winning pitcher. She struck out 13 while giving up five hits.
Riverside hosts Miami East today.

Gophers fall to JC
Ridgemont’s softball team lost to host Jackson Center 7-4 in a non-league game Thursday.
The Gophers were plagued by 10 errors.
Braxton Thomas went 2-4 with a double and two RBI to lead Ridgemont at the plate. Brooke Nelson went 2-4 with a double and one RBI.
Ridgemont is now 3-2 and plays at Upper Scioto Valley on Saturday.

Triad slips to Troy
Triad’s softball team dropped a 5-2 decision to host Troy in a non-league game Thursday.
The Cardinals are now 2-6 on the season.
Mallory Hayes went 2-3 with an RBI and Kaley Nott had an RBI for the Cardinals.
Triad is back in action today at home against Springfield Catholic Central.
