Logan County 4-H members’ sewing skills received top marks at the Ohio State Fair last week during Quilt Day and three days of Clothing Competitions.
4-H’ers brought home of eight Outstanding of the Day Awards and as well as two Clock Trophies, which are awarded to the top project in the state in their categories.
Valerie Knight received an Outstanding of the Day and the Clock Trophy for her first year quilt project, “You can Quilt Junior.”
Carly Strayer also received an Outstanding of the Day and the Clock Trophy for her “Loungewear” Project.
“The clocks are a very big deal and very hard to achieve, especially in sewing and quilts,” 4-H adviser Kim Comer said of the accomplishment.
Other Outstanding of the Day recipients were:
• Valerie Knight in “Clothes for Middle School.”
• Emily Adams in “Sundresses and Jumpers.”
• Lila Adams in “Accessories for Teens.”
• Samuel Knight in “Clothes for Career.”
• Kate Adams in “Clothes for High School.”
• Gillian Knight in “Ready, Set, Sew Active.”
Other Logan County participants included: Malaina Jenkins in “Self Determined Quilts, Senior” and “Outerwear for Anywhere”; Samantha Altstaetter, “Tops for Tweens”; Audriena Smith, “Designed by Me”; and Elayna Hoover, “Sew Fun Junior.”
