Jesse James Meadows, age 83, sailed away to heaven early Sunday morning, February 27, 2022, at Centennial Hills Hospital in Las Vegas, NV.
Jesse was born June 7, 1938, in Opelika, Alabama, the eldest son of the late James Willie Meadows and Ozella Blackmon. He was a four-time Canadian National Champion in track and field.
In 1972, he married his lifelong sweetheart the late Carol Elaine (Clark) Meadows. In 1975, he opened Meadows Printing, the first Black owned printing business in Bellefontaine.
He is preceded in death by his wife; son Steve Maurice Meadows; brother Edlee Alexander and one granddaughter. He is survived by two children Darrin James (Roberta) Meadows, Bellefontaine, OH; Jessica Jae (Quantez) Gurley, Las Vegas, NV; and daughter-in-law Jacqueline Meadows, Columbus, OH. Seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Two brothers Vincent Meadows, Valley, Alabama and Christopher Meadows-Culquit, Atlanta, Georgia; brothers-in-law Gail (Kathryn) Clark, Bellefontaine, OH and Glen (Theodora) Clark, Las Vegas, NV; sister-in-law Dedria (Michael) Scott and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Revs. Lernard Thomas and Randolph Thomas will officiate a funeral service at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 5, in the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, 321 N. Main St., Bellefontaine, Ohio. Visitation will be Friday, March 4, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Cemetery, West Liberty.
