Jerry L. “Bucky” Burris, 68, of Forest, died at 5:24 p.m. Saturday, March 26, 2016, at St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima.
He was born in Alger on Jan. 7, 1948, to the late Charles and Cleah “Billie” Koontz Burris. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Patricia Burris, Marsha Murdock and Lois Cummins.
On July 12, 1993, he married Sharon Tull and she survives in Forest, along with a son, Todd (Cindy) Burris of Marysville; a daughter, Laura (Heath) Ball of Marysville; two stepdaughters, April (John) Stalling of Belle Center and Tiffany Richardson of Kenton; four granddaughters, Morgan Burris, Miranda Sherwood, Brooke Richardson and Lauren Oglesbee; two grandsons, Hayden Ball and Devin Stalling; three great-grandchildren, Channler Drumm, Maddox Coleman and Jayda Barnette; two brothers, Doug (Sharon) Burris of Harrod and Rick (Tina) Burris of Alger; three sisters, Karen Kindle, Bonnie Minix and Terri Bridenstine, all of Alger; and one brother-in-law, Butch Cummins of Malta, Ohio.
An Upper Scioto Valley graduate, Jerry was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the VFW, Eagles and Moose lodges in Kenton. He enjoyed horses, playing golf, playing cards and woodworking.
Jerry devoted his life, serving his country and his county. He was a volunteer fireman in Alger and Mount Victory, he was a police officer for Alger and Forest and a Hardin County Sheriff’s Office deputy for many years.
Pastor Dennis Burns officiates a service at 11 a.m. Friday, April 1, at the Price-McElroy Funeral Home, Kenton, where calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 31. Burial with military rites is at Grove Cemetery.
