A celebration of life service for Janice Marie Bowsher, 90, of Bellefontaine, who passed away Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2015, at the Richard Ross Heart Hospital in Columbus, begins at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 9, at the First United Presbyterian Church, Bellefontaine, with the Rev. Rob Fulton officiation.
Visitation is one hour prior to the service.
She was born in Springfield on Oct. 19, 1925, to the late Theron Wyatt and Mary Sophia Snyder German. She also was preceded in death by her siblings, Darrell German, Donald German and Merle Robinson; and a loving stepmother, Leila German.
On July 2, 1952, she married James N. Bowsher in Dayton and he survives, along with her daughters, the Rev. Deborah Bowsher of Mt. Gilead and Barbara Bowsher of Dublin, Ohio; two godchildren, Zachriah and Carlina and their parents, Phil and Lori Showalter of Bellefontaine; several nephews and nieces; and the family dog, Jake.
In 1947, Janice graduated from Miami Valley Nursing School. She was a registered nurse and retired from Green Hills Care Center. Janice was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church in Bellefontaine, where she was a ruling elder and deacon.
She loved to garden and was deeply devoted to her church. Janice loved caring for and helping people, especially the youth and making a difference in their lives.
According to her wishes, her body was donated to The Ohio State University Anatomical Program.
