James “Jim” Wesley Rich, age 68, formerly of Bellefontaine and Xenia, passed away on Sunday, June 13, 2021, at Care Core of Lima. He was born in Lima on January 8, 1953, to Freeman W. and Emily M. (Parker) Rich. Preceding him in death were his parents, a brother Walter Rich, and a great niece, Kierstin Johnson.
He is survived by sisters, E. Louise (G. Bruce) Norris of Rushsylvania, and his twin, Etta (Everett) Pitts Sr. of Lakeview, along with nephews Gregg (Helen) Norris, Todd Norris, Everett (Julie) Pitts, Jr., a niece Cassie (Josh) Gann, several great nephews and nieces and numerous friends.
Jim served in the U.S. Army and was a Viet Nam veteran. He loved Harley Davidson motorcycles, playing bingo and country music especially Johnny Cash. Jim always dressed in and called himself “the man in black”. He was a member of AMVETS Post #105 and V.F.W. Frank D. Castle Post #1080, both in Bellefontaine.
The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. on Thursday, June 17, 2021, at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home and Cremation Center, where a funeral service with military honors, performed by the Logan County Veteran Honor Guard, will begin at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Huntsville Cemetery in Huntsville, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Logan County Veteran Services, 121 S. Opera Street, Bellefontaine, Ohio 43311.
