Discovery Center nurse Deb Shotts takes the temperature of second-year preschool student Lincoln Manns in the drop off line Tuesday morning. The Discovery Center for Children opened its doors for classes Tuesday for the first time since March, and this year’s theme is “It’s Great to ‘BEE’ Back!” The facility has made some changes to remain safe during the age of COVID-19. Shotts is performing the temperature checks as students exit their vehicles before they head into the building. Classes are smaller this year and some students are participating online. All staff members wear masks. Plexiglass and face shields are in use when masks are not practical, as in the speech therapy setting. Tuesday also marked the first day of school for Bellefontaine City Schools and West Liberty-Salem schools, and Benjamin Logan students return to school Thursday. (DISCOVERY CENTER PHOTO)
