Local Girl Scout troops are once again gearing up for the annual cookie sale that has become a staple of the organization’s fundraising efforts.
On Wednesday, local troop leaders took delivery of 40,662 boxes of the cookies, which included about 10,000 boxes of the best-selling Thin Mints, April Jameson, Logan County service unit manager, said.
A new variety of gluten-free cookies called Toffee-tastic was added this year and cost $5 a box, compared to $4 per box for the other varieties, Ms. Jameson said.
Logan County troops only received 396 boxes and about 340 of those are already sold. It will be difficult to obtain more after the supply runs out, she said.
“The baker shut down the kitchen and cleaned and made all the gluten-free cookies at one time and they’ve agreed to do that once a year,” Ms. Jameson said. “The amount we get has to be ordered in advance.”
