Thomas G. Easter, 65, of Spencerville, reported minor injuries in a crash Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 9, but was not transported from the scene.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office report he was operating a westbound Ford F-350 about 3:45 p.m. on State Route 273 near State Route 117 when he drove off the right side of the road and into a field.
Damage was moderate to the pickup, which was towed from the scene, and the driver was wearing his seat belt. He was cited for failure to control.
• Megan M. Hickle, 20, of Marysville, was cited for failure to maintain assured clear distance ahead related to a crash early Tuesday morning, Nov. 8, in a construction zone.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office report she was operating a westbound 2017 Chevrolet Camaro about 1:45 a.m. on State Route 347 near the entrance ramp to U.S. Route 33, which was closed due to construction.
Hickle reportedly struck the rear of a westbound 2015 Honda Fit operated by Christine M. Garcia, 47, of Belmond, Iowa, that was stopped in traffic.
Damage was light to the Hickle vehicle and moderate to the Garcia vehicle. The drivers were wearing their seat belts.
• Deputies also are investigating a hit-skip crash about 5:25 p.m. Wednesday on U.S. Route 68 at Tracemore Lane.
Georgia J. Miller, 85, of West Liberty, reportedly was operating a southbound 2014 Dodge Caravan and stopped to turn onto Tracemore Lane. Her vehicle was struck from behind by an unknown operator of a gray pickup, which initially stopped, but then reportedly fled the scene.
West Liberty Police Department officers searched the area for the pickup, but did not locate the vehicle at that time.
Miller did not report any injuries and damage was light to her minivan.
• Gerald E. Hines, 61, of Bellefontaine, was cited for failure to maintain assured clear distance ahead relating to a non-injury crash Tuesday afternoon.
Deputies report he was operating an eastbound 2008 Hyundai Elantra on Township Road 185 about 3:35 p.m. when he struck the rear of a 2018 Honda Pilot operated by Kristine O. Hertz, 24, of Bellefontaine, that had stopped at the stop sign for Township Road 179.
Damage was moderate to both vehicles. The drivers were wearing their seat belts.
Man lodged for intimidation of a witness
Mark Shoffner, 57, of 6204 N. County Road 35, Lewistown, was charged Wednesday with intimidation of a witness.
Deputies responded about 10 a.m. Wednesday to the Oasis Drive-Thru, 136 N. Main St., Lakeview, in reference to a menacing complaint.
Staff members reported Shoffner, a regular customer of the business, came through the drive-thru Tuesday and had asked about a named female employee and made threats against her relating to an ongoing court case.
Deputies responded to Shoffner’s residence and placed him under arrest. He was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
