Indian Lake junior Skyler Tavenner placed second in the 50 freestyle and fourth in the 100 backstroke during the prelims of the Division II state swim meet Thursday at C.T. Branin Natatorium in Canton.

Tavenner had a time of 21.04 in the 50 freestyle and a time of 51.29 in the 100 backstroke.
The Division II finals begin at 5 p.m. today. Tavenner is looking to improve on his seventh-place finish in the 50 freestyle at last year’s state meet, and also looking to get on the podium (top eight) for the 100 backstroke.
Three Bellefontaine swimmers were also in action during the Division II prelims Thursday in Canton.
Amy Fulmer was seventh in the 100 freestyle (52.78) and ninth in the 100 backstroke (57.76), while her sister Emily Fulmer was 17th in the 50 freestyle (24.85). This is the elder Fulmer’s second trip to state.
The Chieftains’ Isaiah Brady was 10th in the 100 butterfly (52.28).
