Indian Lake’s boys basketball team used a big second quarter to race past host Northwestern Wednesday and pick up a 69-59 Central Buckeye Conference Mad River division win.
The Lakers snap a three-game losing skid and improve to 9-10 overall and 4-4 in the CBC Mad River. The Warriors fall to 1-9, 0-6.
Indian Lake started off with a 15-9 lead after the opening quarter, but pulled away with a 27-13 run in the second period. That gave the Lakers a 20-point cushion (42-22) at halftime.
Northwestern kept itself in the game during the third quarter with a 23-10 run, but still trailed 52-45. Indian Lake was able to preserve the win in the fourth quarter with a 17-14 run.
Luke Jackson poured in 28 points to power the Lakers on offense and Caleb Wurster tallied 14 points.
In junior varsity action, Indian Lake beat Northwestern 49-41. Logan Murphy led the Lakers with 11 points and Dawson Finfrock had 10 points. Indian Lake hosts North Union on Friday for another CBC Mad River division game.
