Ridgemont Local Schools officials at the Thursday evening board of education meeting reminded district residents that the school’s 0.75 percent renewal income tax will appear on the Nov. 5 ballot.
Superintendent Sally Henrick reports that the issue would continue a current funding stream that was passed by voters in 2010 and 2015 and would not cost taxpayers any additional money. The issue is estimated to generate $493,626 per year for operating expenses of the district.
Residents with questions about the levy can call (937) 354-2441 or e-mail the superintendent at [email protected].
Also during the meeting, the board honored member Corey Ledley for his 10 years of service to the Ridgemont Board of Education. The Ohio School Boards Association also will recognize Ledley.
Members approved a resolution to recognize girls’ swimming and diving as a varsity sport beginning with the current school year and Jina Kearns was approved as a volunteer head coach.
A two-hour delay also is planned for Tuesday, Oct. 29, for teacher professional development.
Parent-teacher conferences for grades kindergarten through six are slated for 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 21.
Grades pre-K through six will not have school Nov. 25 for parent-teacher conferences, while students in grades seven through 12 participate in job shadowing that day. School also is not in session Nov. 26 for teacher professional development.
