Indian Lake High School will host a Community Blood Center blood drive from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the auxiliary gym, 6210 N. State Route 235, Lewistown.
Everyone who registers to donate will receive the Community Blood Center “Eat, Sleep, Donate, Save a Life” emoticon T-shirt for high school blood drives.
The school blood drive is sponsored by the National Honor Society and is open to the community. Community members can sign-up for the blood drive by contacting Barb Keykens at Indian Lake High School, or schedule an appointment online at www.donortime.com or call (800) 388-4483.
Spring is a time when vacations, severe weather and seasonal illnesses can interfere with donating and create challenges to maintaining the regional blood supply.
In addition, CBC is taking cautions against the Zika virus. Potential donors who have traveled to Zika endemic areas in the Caribbean, Mexico and Central or South America are deferred from donating for 28 days. The restriction is expected to decrease the number of eligible donors by approximately 2.25 percent.
