Lefty Trenton Fulkerson kept Bellefontaine’s bats in check and he received a lot of help from his offense as Indian Lake knocked off Bellefontaine 8-2 in an Acme district baseball semifinal Monday at Blue Jacket Park.
With the win, Indian Lake advances to tonight’s district championship game with a berth in the state tournament on the line.
Indian Lake will play the winner of the consolation final between Springfield Shawnee and Bellefontaine.
That game started Monday, but was halted in the third inning because of lighting. The score is tied 1-1.
The Shawnee-Bellefontaine game will resume at 6 p.m. tonight, with the winner playing Indian Lake at 8:30 p.m.
In Monday’s district semifinal between the two Logan County schools, Bellefontaine took a 1-0 lead with a run in the bottom of the third.
However, Indian Lake answered with five runs in the top of the fourth to jump ahead 5-1.
Bellefontaine scored a run in the bottom of the fifth to make the score 5-2, but that was all the offense it could get.
Indian Lake put the game away with a three-run seventh inning.
Fulkerson went the distance on the mound to get the win.
Cayden Whitman had a pair of doubles to spark Indian Lake’s offense.
Bellefontaine was led by a home run from Chris Fogan and an RBI double by Alex Caudill.
