Stacy R. Shirk, 65, of 1126 Allison Road, was arrested Monday for felony domestic violence.
Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department were dispatched to his residence at 4:20 p.m. and met with the suspect’s wife, Arleen S. Shirk. She told them she was trying to convince her husband to stop consuming alcohol as he was scheduled for back surgery the next day.
He allegedly became angry and threw an end table at her.
It struck her in the knee which caused a visible injury.
Officers observed the end table on its side in the bedroom along with television, house plants, papers, folders and other items strewn about the floor. The victim told officers her husband had consumed two six-packs of more of beer and she wanted to dispose of the remaining alcohol.
The suspect, who had alcohol on his breath and was unsteady on his feet, was talking with officers when his wife began removing cans of beer from the refrigerator. He turned and walked into the kitchen to grab ahold of his wife.
Officers followed and stopped him. He allegedly muttered he was going to kill his wife as officers secured him in handcuffs.
An incident report notes the suspect has a prior domestic violence conviction.
He was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
• Joshua J. Phillips, 38, of 604 Florence Ave., was served Monday with summonses for domestic violence and resisting arrest.
The charges stemmed from a July 27 incident at his residence in which he allegedly struck his wife, Chelsea Phillips, and broke two televisions. He also struggled with officers after he was placed in handcuffs.
He was lodged in jail after the incident.
• Calyssa M. Lackey, 28, of 1034 S. Main St., DeGraff, was arrested Monday on a felony contempt of court warrant.
At 7:40 p.m., Jessica Lindauer called police to report Lackey was at the victim’s 608 Lawrence St. residence knocking on the front door and challenging Lindauer to fight.
Lackey was found at the Pink House, 600 Jay Ave., taken into custody, and lodged in jail.
