Senior Kyleigh Huffer drained a three-pointer with 12 seconds left in overtime and helped Indian Lake’s girls basketball team edge Dixie 38-36 in a Division III sectional tournament opener Thursday at Covington High School.
It was the program’s first postseason win since 2010.
The 11th-seeded Lakers were down 36-35 when a five-second call on the 13th-seeded Greyhounds turned the ball over to Indian Lake with 20.4 seconds remaining.
Huffer then took a pass from Kayli Tussing and shot the go-ahead three-pointer to put their team up 38-36 and the Laker defense held off the Greyhounds in the final seconds.
“I am very proud of the kids,” said IL head coach Frank Stid. “At the end of the game we put the ball in the hands of our senior.”
