Theater now accepting applications for managing director
Board members, staff, and other friends of the historic Holland Theatre recently honored longtime director Chris Westhoff, who stepped down from his role with the theater at the end of June.
The Holland is now accepting applications for the position of managing director.
Westhoff began as managing director of the Holland in 2014. During his years with the theater he developed the Holland’s reputation as a venue for world-class music and built ties with other community and regional organizations to offer local arts opportunities.
“When Chris’s professional journey led him to join the Holland, it was the next significant milestone for the theater,” said Kris Swisher, Holland Theatre board chair. “His breadth of knowledge in the arts and connections to performers created a buzz about our schedule.”
Westhoff also shepherded the Holland through a multi-million-dollar restoration completed in 2019, and then helped the theater weather the storm of Covid.
“The opportunity to be a part of the good efforts at the Holland Theatre has been a shining light in my professional career,” Westhoff said. “I am deeply grateful to all in our community who have supported the vision of what we believe the theater can be: a beautifully restored venue that honors its unique place in history while becoming a contemporary and relevant conduit to new people, ideas and artistic expression.”
After accepting a position as director of development with the Antioch School in Yellow Springs in June of 2021, Westhoff moved to the role of artistic director with the Holland.
He has stepped down from his artistic director role to focus on his work with the school, but will continue to assist with theater programming this season on a contractual basis.
Westhoff also served as director of LoCo Art for some of his years with the Holland and continues in his role as managing director of Mad River Theatre Works.
He is leaving the Holland Theatre on strong financial and artistic footing.
“The new managing director will come to us at an exciting time for the theater,” said Jason Vogel, who has served as interim executive director of the Holland for the past year. “Chris has helped create a solid foundation, and we are looking forward to what the future holds.”
