Urbana’s boys basketball team found a way to stop the momentum of visiting West Liberty-Salem on Tuesday and come away with a 49-40 non-league victory.
The win snaps the Tigers’ 14-game winning streak and brings them to 18-3 on the season. The Hillclimbers are now 13-6.
Both teams were deadlocked at 18-18 after the opening quarter. Urbana grabbed control of the game in the second quarter with a 13-3 run. That put the Hillclimbers on top 31-21 at halftime.
WL-Salem fought to get back in the game during the third quarter with an 11-6 spurt, but still trailed 37-32. Urbana fended off WL-Salem in the fourth quarter with a 12-8 effort.
