Helen T. Fosnaugh, 68, of Arcadia, Fla., and Lakeview, passed away Thursday morning, Feb. 4, 2016 at Tidewell Hospice House in Arcadia.
Helen was born on July 29, 1947, in Toms River, N.J., a daughter of Loretta Peltier Buchanan, who survives in Toms River, N.J., and the late William Vigus Sr.
On Aug. 30, 1988, she married Charles “Fuzz” Fosnaugh II and he preceded her in death Aug. 8, 2003. She also was preceded in death by her stepfather, Charles Grove Sr.
Helen is survived by her longtime companion, Jim Frost; three children, Diane (Carl) Tackett and Rich (Marie Cuellar) McCabe, both of Marysville, and Jennifer (Tony Brown) Travis of Winchester; two stepchildren, Leslie (Brandon Solo) Frost of DeGraff and Michelle (Greg) Bates of Bellefontaine; nine grandchildren, Amber Tackett, Brittany (Jesse) Sines, Jordan (Roy Underwood) Tackett, Ashley Williamson, Devin McCabe, Dylan McCabe, Kyle Travis, Kody Allen and Isebell Allen; three stepgrandchildren, Savana and Alaie Frost and Dalton Bates; five great-grandchildren, Jazzlynn Richardson, Gavin Sines, Leighton Spanswick, and Audrey and Connor Brown; five siblings, William (Maureen) Vigus II of Wanamassa, N.J., Ruth (Barry) Henderson of Neptune, N.J., Charlie (Kathie) Grove of Sea Bright, N.J., Raymond (Jen) Grove of Pensacola, Fla., and William Vigus III of Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews.
Helen attended Neptune High School in New Jersey. She was an active member of the Acadia Red Hats and Indian Lake Moose Lodge 1533 in Lakeview. She was an avid bingo player, loved to paint and make crafts, and enjoyed a variety of outdoor activities.
Helen had a larger-than-life personality and never knew a stranger. Her greatest joy was her family and caring for others.
A funeral begins at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, at Shoffstall Funeral Home North Chapel, 115 N. Main St., Lakeview, where visitation is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 12. Burial is in Huntsville Cemetery.
