Helen Louise Simmons, 90, of Rushsylvania, passed away Tuesday morning, July 20, 2021, at Mary Rutan Hospital.
Helen was born in Logan County on May 15, 1931, to the late Emmet L. and Mildred Pauline (McIntosh) Sloan. She was also preceded in death by her brother John Melvin Sloan, and sisters Ruth I. Fleming and Annabelle Roberts.
Helen is survived by her husband of 73 years, Virgil Eugene Simmons. She is also survived by her sons Larry Simmons of Bellefontaine, and Bob Simmons of Rushsylvania; three grandchildren: Lisa (Scott) Engle, Kari (Andrew) Blankenbeker, and Matthew (Steph) Simmons; a step-grandchild: Christopher Engle; and five great-grandchildren: Jocelynn, Baileigh, McKinley, Piper, and Charlee.
Helen was a member of the Rushsylvania United Methodist Church. She worked as a cook for 20-plus years at TP Lanes. Helen also operated Helen’s Beauty Shop and the Dew Drop Inn in Rushsylvania. She loved quilting and will be missed by all who knew her.
A private family graveside service will be conducted in Rushsylvania Cemetery.
