Grant Matthew Dotson, age 17, of Flat Rock, Mich., was taken home to be with Jesus on October 20, 2021.
Grant was born September 14, 2004. He was raised in Mansfield, and recently moved to Flat Rock, Michigan.
Grant was a sweet, old soul who enjoyed the simpler things in life such as fishing and working with his hands. He was a budding handyman and lover of music- but nothing after the mid-1970s. He was never without a concert t-shirt on his back and an air pod in his ear. Grant’s dry, subtle sense of humor, bear hugs and big caring heart brought smiles to many, many faces. He was loved by so many.
Grant leaves to forever cherish his memory his parents Carrie and Michael Holder and Jason (Lisa Heiser) Dotson; his siblings William and Mitchell Dotson, and Michaelynne and William Holder, grandparents Gary and Vickie Brown, Robert and Louisa Dotson and Trudy Holder; aunts and uncles Matthew Brown, Steve and Angie Christman, Gene and Sandy Holder and David and Vicki Connolly; loved cousins Aurrora and Alexuss Brown, Dylan and Madison Christman, Blake and Sydney Holder, Emily Holder, Justin and Amber Connolly and Shaylin Connolly; his faithful furry companions Blaze and Lillian, Poppins and Walter, and many forever friends from Mansfield Christian and Flat Rock High School.
Friends may call Thursday, October 28, 2021 from 5 to 9 p.m. in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home (419-886-2491). The funeral service, celebrating Grant Matthew Dotson will be held Friday, October 29, at 1 p.m. in Lexington Grace Church. Pastor Nathaniel Foote will officiate and burial will follow in Bellville Cemetery.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Ohio, which provided much comfort to Grant and his family during his illness.
Our earthly hearts may never heal fully from this loss, but Grant is whole again and in Heaven. The Bible says in Matthew 5:3-4, “Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.”
To quote Paul McCartney and Grant’s favorite song, “Let It Be.”
