George Warren Rash, 60, of Hawthorne, Fla., passed away Friday, Jan. 15, 2016, at the University of Florida Shands Hospital, Gainesville, Fla.
He was born April 26, 1955, in Bellefontaine, a son of the late Richard and Martha Rash. He also was preceded in death by his stepmother, Phyllis Rash.
He is survived by his wife, Namil Chun Rash of Hawthorne; children, Levi (Janel) Rash of Huntsville and Melissa Rash of Miami, Fla.; stepdaughter, Marie (Donta) Warfield of Tampa, Fla.; siblings, Frank Rash of Melbourne, Fla., Frank Reams of Zanesfield, Diane Reams of Ocala, Fla., Melinda Young of Atlanta, and Ronald Reams of Dunnellon, Fla.; and seven grandchildren, Ana Quintana, Kaila Warfield, Dominic Warfield, Zach Sparks, Hunter Phillips, Reagan Rash and Riley Rash.
He graduated from Benjamin Logan High School and attended college. A United States Navy veteran, he served from 1973 to 1977. He was in certified energy management and energy business development at Perfection Group.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 0016 of Gainesville, Lions Club of Bellefontaine, VFW Bellefontaine Lodge 132, and was a past member of Elks Lodge. He loved fishing, Florida Gator basketball and bicycling. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, playing with his grandchildren, and traveling with his wife.
Dr. Jason Robson officiates a funeral at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 24, in Zanesfield United Methodist Church, 2880 Main St., Zanesfield. Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, 321 N. Main St., Bellefontaine. Burial is in Zanesfield Cemetery, with military honors by the Logan County Veteran Honor Guard.
