Frank Davis O’Rielley, 96, of Bellefontaine, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2020, at The Bear Trail Inn in Lewis Center.
Frank was born in Bellefontaine, on June 7, 1924, to James O’Rielley and Pauline O’Rielley. He was preceded in death by his son John O’Rielley, brother James O’Rielley and first wife, Freda Titus O’Rielley.
He attended grammar school at St. Patrick’s school and graduated from Bellefontaine High School. Following graduation, Frank served in the U.S. Army Air Force and World War II. Upon honorable discharge, he began a 71-year employment with H.G. Short, MacGillivray Motors and later Anderson Ford, where he served as the Parts Department Manager.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years Carol A. Hayes O’Rielley. He is also survived by his children, Chris (Robert) Glessner of Urbana; Don (RoseAnn) O’Rielley of Dover; Mary (Dave) Fuchs of Plano, Texas; Kathleen (Dan) Petno of Stow; Deborah (Alan) Stein of Lebanon; Hayes (Kindra) O’Rielley of Lewis Center; and Erin-Brew O’Rielley of Marysville. He is also survived by grandchildren; Grant and Bradley Glessner, J.J. and Tyler O’Rielley, Ariel and Trevor Fuchs, Courtney and Emma Petno, Isaac and Andrew O’Rielley, and Tyler Stein, as well as several great-grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters Peggy Thackery of Bellefontaine and Judy (Harold) Cooper of Bellefontaine; niece and nephew, Debbie and Willis Payne.
Frank was a devoted Catholic and member of St. Patrick Church where he was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was an avid Ohio State Buckeye and Cincinnati Reds fan. He enjoyed bowling and golfing. He loved traveling to see his kids and grandchildren. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
Father Shawn Landenwitch will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, June 30, at 12:30 p.m., at St. Patrick Church, Bellefontaine. Visitation will proceed the funeral mass from 10 a.m. to noon at Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 321 N. Main St. Bellefontaine. Burial will be in New Philadelphia Cemetery, West Liberty, at a later date. The Logan County Veteran Honor Guard will provide military rites for Frank following services at the church on Tuesday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Saint Patrick Church.
