OXFORD — Former Logan County resident John Jones was promoted to the position of chief of police for the city of Oxford upon the April 1 retirement of Robert Holzworth.
Mr. Jones, a son of John and Sue Jones of West Mansfield and a 1995 graduate of North Union High School, has been with the department since 2002 and served as acting chief recently during Holzworth’s absence for health reasons. His first day as police chief is April 1.
He earned a bachelor of arts degree with a double major in public administration and sociology from Miami University in 1999 and a master of science degree in the administration of justice from the University of Louisville in 2011. He also attended the Southern Police Institute in Louisville, Ky.
