A former DeGraff village utility clerk has been sentenced to prison for stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars while in office.
Jennifer Dearwester, 48, of Bellefontaine, was sentenced to three years in prison for charges including tampering with records and theft in office, third-degree felonies.
Logan County Common Pleas Court Judge Kevin Braig also ordered Dearwester to pay restitution in the amount of $206,182 to the village of DeGraff, and $35,670 to the Ohio Auditor of State’s office.
In June, Dearwester pleaded guilty to misappropriating cash utility payments from village residents and tampering with the village’s computer system between January 2014 and March 2018.
