The Raider Reading Program features Benjamin Logan High School junior and senior cheerleaders and football players, including Hayden Kennaw, pictured, who are paired with an elementary classroom. The athletes visit several times during football season to read a story to the class and to share some Raider spirit. The classes in return are encouraged to adopt their player as their own special player. The goal is to encourage excitement for reading, bridge a gap between the high school and elementary school, and increase school spirit. “The Raider Reader program is an excellent idea and I’m glad it is back. A win-win for reading emphasis, elementary students and HS athletes,” Superintendent John Scheu said. The program continues every Friday through Oct. 21. Oct. 7, the athletes will give students an invitation and a ticket to get into the game on Oct. 21. (Benjamin Logan Photo)
