Chiefs knock off Watterson
All week, Bellefontaine head coach Jason Brown told his team that the game versus Bishop Watterson would be a “measuring stick” for their program. After the game, it was clear to all in attendance that his Chieftain team measures up.
An opportunistic offensive effort and another gritty defensive display sent the Chiefs past the Eagles 14-7 at Ohio Dominican University.
Bellefontaine and Watterson, a traditional power in the Columbus area, have met a handful of times over the years in the postseason, with the Eagles winning all of the previous matchups.
But this time, Bellefontaine came out on top.
“This was a program win tonight,” said Bellefontaine head coach Jason Brown. “Coach (Jeremiah) Vigansky and Coach (Rick) Reed have been so good this season creating the game plans to put us in position to be successful, and these kids … man, these kids just believe in each other, and love each other so much. I love how far we’ve come.”
Raiders air it out to take down Tigers
A big-play passing attack by Benjamin Logan was too much for the West Liberty-Salem defense to contain on Friday as the host Raiders ran away for a 21-6 victory.
Ben Logan improves to 2-0, while the Tigers slip to 0-2.
It was a long night of football as the two teams had to battle through a pair of weather delays.
Junior quarterback Kam Allen, in his first year as the starter, was sensational in the Raiders’ win.
Allen completed 20-of-32 passing for 331 yards and three touchdowns.
Alec Rodenberger was the favorite target of Allen as Rodenberger hauled in 12 passes for 179 yards and two touchdowns.
Rodenberger also carried the ball 13 times for 44 yards and he picked off a pair of passes on defense.
