Bellefontaine’s baseball team avenged a regularseason loss to Northwestern with a 6-0 victory over the visiting Warriors on Tuesday in a Division II sectional tournament opener at Blue Jacket Park.
The third-seeded Chiefs, who lost to Warriors 8-3 last week, improve to 10-13 and advance to play secondseeded Kenton Ridge (15-7) on Thursday at Kenton Ridge High School.
Sophomore Chris Fogan fired a two-hitter for the Chiefs. The right-hander struck out five and walked four.
The Chiefs took a 1-0 lead in the third inning.
They put two more runs on the scoreboard in the fourth frame to make it 3-0.
Bellefontaine then broke the game open with a threerun fifth frame.
The Chiefs finished with eight hits.
Fogan had a triple and an RBI and Kaden Reames had a double and an RBI to spark the BHS offense. Alex Caudill went 2-3 with an RBI and Tavien St. Clair went 2-4 with an RBI.
Keyon Collier added an RBI.
Bellefontaine will now look to get some revenge against Kenton Ridge. BHS dropped both of its regular season meetings with the Cougars. KR won 7-3 in the first matchup and 11-1 in the second game.
