Complete financial information dating back each of the last three years for the village of West Liberty soon will be available for public review following a vote Monday during a regular meeting of the village council.
Council approved the village’s participation in Checkbook Ohio, an online resource that makes financial information for public municipalities and schools publicly available online.
Checkbook Ohio is an initiative of Ohio Treasurer Josh Mandel’s office, council learned previously during a presentation about the platform. It is no cost for municipalities and school districts to sign up.
Locally, villages of Valley-Hi and Russells Point already have signed on to the program.
Council will go back three years in setting up the village’s financial records online. Council members wanted to go back to when the municipal income tax was levied in 2013, and to show the need for that collection.
