A 32-year-old wanted felon was taken into custody Friday after officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department acted on a tip from the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office.
Just before 4 p.m., officers converged on 1000 Garfield Ave., Lot 66, and met with Tonya L. Roark, who initially denied Christopher M. Hawkins was in the residence. She finally admitted he was in a back bedroom.
Officers had been warned Hawkins had a history of felonious assault and gun charges. He allegedly used a hatchet in a recent assault.
The department’s K-9 unit officer warned the suspect to surrender or the dog would be released on him.
Hawkins complied with police orders and exited the bedroom to surrender.
He is wanted on a nationwide felony warrant as a parolee at large. He also is wanted on a Delaware County warrant for auto theft; a Pickaway County warrant for domestic violence; and charges of aggravated menacing, vandalism, resisting arrest and obstruction of official business.
Hawkins is now lodged in the Logan County Jail.
