A convicted felon was lodged Wednesday in the Logan County Jail after he admitted shooting a man in an alleged break-in and assault.
Corbin Sexton, 20, of 1005 Eastern Ave., was taken into custody for a parole violation and having weapons under disability.
His alleged attacker was treated and released from Mary Rutan Hospital for a non-life threatening injury in the 8:25 p.m. incident.
Sexton was standing in the doorway of the residence when officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department arrived on scene and he complied with their instructions to exit the residence and walk toward them. He was patted down for officer safety.
He told officers the man broke into the residence and attacked him. During the assault, he admitted shooting the man, whom officers are not identifying as they continue to investigate the incident.
A handgun was recovered and seized as evidence.
Convicted in 2020 of felony counts of assault, discharging a firearm on or near prohibited premises and harassment with a bodily substance, Sexton is prohibited from possessing or using firearms.
Sexton also has a misdemeanor domestic violence conviction, according to the Logan County Clerk of Courts records.
