Fairbanks’ boys basketball team dominated the third quarter to open up some breathing room and the Panthers went on to record a 50-34 victory over visiting Triad Friday in an Ohio Heritage Conference game.
It was the season opener for both squads.
The Cardinals put up a fight in the first half, trailing just 13-11 after the opening quarter and 23-20 at halftime.
Fairbanks broke the game open in the third quarter, outscoring the Cardinals 18-5 to build a 16-point cushion at 41-25.
Drew Campbell led the Cardinals with 14 points and Batai Lease was right behind him with 13 points.
Fairbanks won the junior varsity game 61-36. Maison Johnson led Triad with 12 points.
Triad hosts rival Mechanicsburg on Tuesday for an OHC contest.
