Erma Louise Boysel, 89, of Kenton, passed away peacefully Thursday, Jan. 23, 2020, at Blanchard Place Assisted Living in Kenton with family by her side.
A 1948 graduate of Rushsylvania High School, she worked for ITE-Bulldog Electric and became a stay-at-home mother after the birth of her son, Michael. She was a member of the North Greenfield United Methodist Church; the United Methodist Women; taught youth Sunday school and vacation Bible school; volunteered at the West Mansfield Community Vacation Bible School; was an adviser for the youth fellowship at North Greenfield United Methodist Church; the King’s Daughters; the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion Post 603 and was a 4-H adviser.
She enjoyed playing softball, which was a family affair. She pitched and played with her daughters, Linda and Ronda and they were coached by her husband Eber, playing on the West Mansfield Women’s team.
Born May 14, 1930, in Rushsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Cora (Simmons) Titus. On Dec. 29, 1947, she married her husband of over 59 years, Eber J. Boysel, and he died May 29, 2007. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by her sisters, Vadah Cordrey, Doris Titus, Bernita Kelly and Madalene Carnes.
Erma is survived by her children, Linda Coats of West Mansfield, Ronda (Randy) Cronley of Kenton and Michael (Teresa) Boysel of Philo; grandchildren, Shauna (Kevin) Chapman, Dan (Traci) Coats, Kristi (Christopher) Bothel, Melody (Eric) Miller, Matthew (Jaimi) Bowman, Brandy (Justin) Hunsacker, Brittanie (Dennis Fraley) Boysel, Haylie (Ryan Thompson) Boysel, Kirsten (Josh Kennedy) Boysel, Claudia Erwin, Chloe (Brandon Williams) Erwin, Paige (Russ) Wallace and Travis Cronley; great-grandchildren, Miles, Audrey, Pierce, Lauren and Megan Bowman, Dawson, Eliannah and Braylen Miller, Landon, Mya, Mikayla and Lincoln Hunsacker and Collin Wallace, Jessica (Jeff) Osborn, Andrea Chapman, Ashley LeVan, Zaiden and Ryan (Melissa) Chapman, Thomas Coats, Kiarra Coats, Kaydence Bothel, Kenzleigh and Kaleigha Kennedy, Cornell Lynum, Savannah and Caleb Williams; great-great-grandchildren, Alexis Chapman, Jaxyn Pratt, Allyah McCoy, and Arika Chapman; special friends, Angela Rutan and Deb Nicol; sister-in-law, Martha Bayliss; all her friends and the caring staff at Blanchard Place in Kenton; caregivers, Joy Smith and Courtney Bristel; and her beloved fur baby, Jodi.
Funeral services begin at 11 a.m., Monday, Jan. 27, 2020, at the North Greenfield United Methodist Church. Pastor Linda Dulin-Moore officiates and burial follows at the North Greenfield Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 26, 2020, at Wilson Funeral Home, Schnurrenberger Chapel 222 W. Center St. West Mansfield.
