The Mary Rutan Foundation continues to support local Emergency Medical Personnel and their efforts in Logan County through its EMT/Paramedic Scholarship Program.
During National EMS Week, Mary Rutan Foundation awarded a scholarship in the amount of $2,700 to Jason Epp. Mr. Epp currently serves with the Perry Township/East Liberty area EMS as an EMT and is continuing his education to obtain his paramedic certification.
Since MRF began this program in 2016, seven emergency medical scholarships have been awarded, totaling nearly $13,000 (4 paramedic, 1 EMT advanced and 2 EMT basic). Everyone successfully completed their certification and has provided emergency services on a volunteer squad to the residents of Logan County.
“There has been a decline in the number of local emergency medical personnel available to serve our community.
It is our hope that this program will aid in building a pool of EMS personnel to serve Logan County residents, especially in our rural communities where volunteers are the first responders should an emergency arise in those areas”, said Tammy Allison, MRH Foundation chief operating officer.
